Jane Eyre

I maybe shouldn't love Jane Eyre this much anymore, but I do. This adaptation looks so fucking great. I don't know if they could have picked a cast I would love more, and they included all the creepy haunted house aspects from the book. As much as I love all those other adaptations, Jane Eyre is a haunted house book. See: House of Leaves.

Fan of Terry Gross

I adore Terry Gross. I thought up this blog series (fan of) because of Terry Gross. Actually because of FB, but Terry Gross was the first person I thought to include. I used Maurice Sendak first instead, because I thought I might forget him and knew I could never forget Terry Gross.

I've listened to Fresh Air in podcast form for a couple years and therefore have heard probably 80 to 90 percent of the Fresh Airs from 2007-2009. And they're all good. Terry Gross makes every interview interesting, brings out the best in every interviewed subject, and somehow still manages to be unobtrusive and humble. I also covet her job but would never take it because Fresh Air would be ruined without her. I would settle for being interviewed by her though.

Top 5 TV Creatures

1. Fraggles from Fraggle Rock. I didn't expect two top 5's in a row with Muppets on it, but this list DEMANDS Muppets. And Fraggles fit the category of 'creature' perfectly--unlike most Muppets, they're not monsters, they're not animals, they're not people. They literally are creatures.
2. Centurions from Battlestar Galactica. The skinjobs get all the attention, but the Centurions won everyone--including me--over when one tilted his head at Baltar's speech about slavery.
3. Hanky the Christmas Poo. South Park has brought out many absurd creatures, but Hanky is the most endearing.
4. Gob's puppet Franklin in Arrested Development. Racist and hilarious.
5. The smoke monster in Lost. I'm hoping Lost really fulfills all the early promise of the smoke monster. The more I see, the less I like it, but the smoke monster was so cool in the early Lost days.
