July recap

It's been a long time again. Here's my July in a nutshell:

1) Fresh Air: I've been listening to my ipod at work a lot more than I used to. It's been a nice chance to rediscover Fresh Air. My favorites lately included the Regent University Law School bit, Guillermo del Toro's stories about his grandmother, the story on Senator Cunningham's corruption scandal, Rock en Espanol, Linda Greenhouse on the Supreme Court, the Shangri-La's, Rediscovering Chris Marker, and Peggy Orenstein.

2) the Liberator: yes, the aforementioned work. I've been looking through issues of the Liberator, an abolitionist newspaper from the 19th century, for references to coolies and prostitutes. And printing a lot of articles.

3) Harry Potter: Oh I loved Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. There are a few little things I didn't like, but that matters less and less as time goes by. Now I'm only sad it's over. I also haven't had a chance to see Harry Potter 5 finished and released, but hopefully I will soon.

4) Family: my brother's been living with us for almost 6 weeks. It's been fun, but sad a little 'cause he works so hard I barely see him. And it's all done soon. :(

In August I'll be in DC and Boston. Update then.

RIP Brown

The Supreme Court using Brown to make their recent resegregation decision makes me sick to my stomach.
