Family 2: Witches
One of my new favorite family stories: Apparently when my mom misbehaved as a kid, my grandma would tell her that her real mother was Hattie the Witch, a character from the Uncle Al Show. As you can see, Hattie (all the way to the right) was pretty scary. My grandma was awesome. I would feel a little bad for my mom, except that from what I hear, my mom was not much swayed by this.
Plus my mom loved/loves witches, something I've definitely inherited. One of the most famous fights my parents ever had was when my dad threw away a list my mom had made of all the witches in Samantha Stephen's family. For those of you not in the know, Samantha Stevens from Bewitched. It was a genealogy of witches, warlocks, etc. That, there, is my mom in a nutshell. My mom is also awesome. (I should note this is not like my dad; he's usually saintly indulgent with my mom regarding her incredibly bizarre quirks. And awesome).
